RP Dr.Alfredo Saenz SJ
March 22, 2008

(Audio: 08 '55 ")

As rightly said Father Andres Azcarate, which was once missal famous American newspaper (*), the praise of Cirio is sung at the beginning of the Easter Vigil:
"is a literary
bursting with poetry and high lyricism and theology, which emphasizes the fall of man, darkness and slavery that for it was plunged humanity, redemption through Jesus Christ and the glorious Resurrection, sung all with an enthusiasm that is contagious to the crowd ... tonight might be called
Night of Light. "

Let's hear
down for its implementation in the former Sacred Heart Chapel, in the Solemn Vigil last year 2008.
(*) The late father Azcarate, was abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Buenos Aires, now moved to the vicinity of Luján. The first edition of the missal is mentioned in 1943. Many specimens have been dusted now, thanks to the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum the Pope gloriously reigning.

1. Rejoice in heaven the chorus of angels.

Let the ministers of God,
and the victory of a king so great
resonate the trumpet of salvation.

2. Rejoice land also flooded with so much light, is free from the darkness that enveloped

worldwide.
3. Rejoice also our mother the Church, adorned with the glow of a light so bright, and resonate in the enclosures clamorous voices of the people.

V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with your spirit.]
V. Lift up your hearts.
R. We lift them to the Lord.

V. Thank the Lord our God.
R. It is right and necessary.

4. It really is just and necessary to let us heartily

our voices and with all the fervor of our intelligence
and our heart
the invisible God, the Father Almighty,
5. Because He paid for us the eternal Father
debt of Adam, and blotted with blood
the sentence of the first sin.
6. These are the Easter celebrations,
in which sacrifices the true Lamb, whose blood
are dedicated to the gates of the faithful. 7. This is the night that brought out of Egypt formerly
our parents, the children of Israel, did

and miraculously pass through the Red Sea.

8. This is the night that
dispersed the darkness of sin with the brightness
a column of fire.
9. This is the night that restores sanctifying grace and

to all who believe in Christ,
once they have departed from the vices of the world and darkness of sin.

10. This is the night that
Christ broke the bonds of death and rose victorious
of the abyss.

11. How great is your goodness to us!
What is the predilection inestimable your love:
to redeem the slave, gave your own son!

12. Adam's sin is certainly needed,
was deleted by the death of Christ! Blame
happy that we deserved so noble and so great a Redeemer!
13. So the mystery of this night

away all evil, washes guilt away, restores lost innocence
sinners
and joy to the afflicted;
14. Night truly happy

where the sky meets the earth
and the divine and the human!
15. On this night of grace, receives Holy Father,
this sacrifice of praise
mind you
holy Church through his ministers solemnly
to bring the Cirio, whose
substances produced by bees.
16. So, Lord, we pray, that this candle
established in honor of your Name,
continue burning constantly
to dispel the darkness of the night,
and accepted by you as pleasant perfume,

joins the stars of heaven.
find it on the morning star,
that star that never sets:
Jesus Christ, your Son, who returning from the abyss
shone serene on mankind,
lives and reigns forever and ever.
R. Amen.
